5 signs you’re under fueling your life

Note: multiple factors can cause each of these so it isn't a hard + fast rule.  More of a suggestion that maybe its time to either hire a nutrition professional.

1. Mid Day Crashes.

I get it.  This is totally normalized in our culture.  However, we should not be having big swings in energy during the day.  Food (calories) are actually a unit of energy.  For anyone who has ever taken any chemistry (remember joules-- UGH)-- calories are the same type of deal.  We need to put enough energy in our bodies to to actually have energy through the day. Ever go through a cut (caloric deficit) + at the end you start to really struggle with energy? That's a sign it might be time to reverse!

2. Frequent Naps.

There are a couple of exceptions where I tell people to "take the nap". However, 98% of the time we should be getting all the sleep we need at night. If we are crashing so hard during your day that you actually need to sleep-- red flag! Now the occasional once per month nap where its rainy our and you're relaxing and you doze off-- totally okay.  I'm talking happening once per week or more.

3. You're hangry.

This has been somewhat normalized, but also not normal. If you're feeling like you need to eat more than five times per day because you are feeling crash-y RED FLAG. You MIGHT need more satiating macros (protein + fat) to last you longer OR more food in general.

4. Mental Resistance to Workouts.

We all have days where we don't wanna do the thing.  But if you are finding yourself regularly saying "OMG I DON'T WANNA"-- also a sneaky sign you may need more energy to get the damn thing done . Think about it-- if you don't have the energy you're not mentally going to want to SPEND the energy.  It's like having $2 versus $2,000 dollars in your bank account.

5. Poor Recovery.

Ever have to pull yourself off the toilet because your legs hurt so bad or you raise your arms to wash your hair and it makes you question life? Sure every once in a while we go a little to hard, but on the regular-- NOT NORMAL.  I repeat NOT NORMAL. While we are on the topic-- level of soreness is NOT an indicator of quality of workout
